National Year of Reading 2026

The National Year of Reading 2026 is a UK-wide initiative led by the National Literacy Trust and the Department for Education, with The Reading Agency coordinating public library activity. It aims to make reading more joyful, visible and relevant in everyday life, and to support libraries as trusted community hubs for reading, creativity and connection.

Across London, public libraries are playing a central role in bringing the campaign to life through events, partnerships, displays and outreach.

The National Year of Reading Brand Toolkit and Guidelines

How libraries can take part

  • Badge existing activity with Go All In – Use the branding on regular programmes such as storytimes, book clubs and community groups.

  • Reach new audiences – Work with schools, community partners, local venues and public spaces to promote reading and library membership.

  • Create displays that invite people to ‘Go All In’
Interest-led displays, staff picks, quick reads and themed tables.

Reading in communities across London

Throughout 2026 London libraries will be marking the National Year of Reading through a wide range of local activity, from interest-led displays and creative workshops to partnerships with schools, community organisations and neighbourhood venues. Many services will be badging existing programmes such as storytimes, book groups and skills sessions with the Go All In identity, while also taking reading out into places where people already spend their time. Alongside this, London Libraries is promoting Read On, our free app developed by the consortium to help adults discover books, set personal reading goals and rediscover the joy of reading. Read On complements the aims of the National Year of Reading by making reading more visible, accessible and enjoyable, and we encourage libraries to signpost it as part of their local offer.

Logos and Resources

Some authorities experience difficulties accessing the full Brand Toolkit. To help, we provide core National Year of Reading logos below for local use.
These logos can be used on local posters, newsletters, digital screens and social media relating to National Year of Reading activity in London libraries.
